~ Laptop and the storyteller Lady

Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time, in the land of laptops, there lived a young boy named Processor. He was the brain child of his parents, the Motherboard and Logic Gates.

Processor had a tight bond with both his older (though less talented) brother, Hard Drive, and his younger sibling, despite being lavished with attention by their mother.

He worked extremely hard and was grateful to his secretary, Register, who kept track of all operations. He got along well with all of his direct and indirect subordinates.

While things were going well at work for Processor, he couldn't say the same for his personal life. The RAM, his godfather, had a daughter named Cache. Since they did a lot of things together as children, Processor thought of her as a childhood friend. But he quickly understood his error. He liked her more than just as a childhood friend; he believed she was brilliant and had a great deal more potential than her godfather.

Processor buried his desire for her as soon as he realized she was interested in his brother, Hard Drive. Years had passed, and with them his emotions, which had hardly survived. He eventually met the USB. She belonged to the I/O tribe. Her quickness amazed him. He was aware that she was special and that if they spent more time together, he would really like her more than friends. Sadly, she left just as quickly as she entered his life.

He soon discovered that USB wasn't devoted to any one person. She was like the windโ€”a true USB who appeared whenever she needed something and vanished just as quickly. She occasionally stayed a little while longer; those were the times when the USB owner or lender kept her connected to the port. The owner may have been distracted or too busy watching something in her storage during these times. However, those moments were sufficient for Processor to gain some knowledge about her. He found that she was a frequent traveler. She was a true sailor!

He was envious of her ability to communicate with other processors and travel to various ports. She was multilingual as well! He discovered she liked architecture. She was acquainted with both the x64 and x32 architectures. She even knew which lands were being destroyed by pirates and Trojan horses! Her stories captivated him. He occasionally questioned whether he would ever encounter a Trojan horse. He was aware that his kingdom had excellent defenses, so the likelihood of meeting a pirate was slim.

He admired her as much as he envied her. She was a joy to be around. She had a tendency to make impulsive but funny one-liners, especially when she was informing her owner that a file was corrupt, fully aware that her owner wouldn't be happy with the report. She was responsible and compassionate. She possessed many wonderful qualities.

Unaware, she had visited a land completely conquered by the Trojans. The Trojan army had overpowered her army and every soldier under her command had been dealt the death blow, so even though she was able to alert her owner, it was already too late. Two years after they met, he learned that she had been laid to rest by her master.

Despite her owner's best efforts, it was too late to reformat her. In her owner's hands, she breathed her last. She turned cold in his palm, and her owner could feel her dying. Processor sighed a trembling breath as he remembered the day he received the news from one of his servants, the Microphone.

He knew she meant a lot to him, but he also knew she meant even more to her owner. As her owner's "one and only" for the previous 5 years, he pondered how he could bring him comfort. Processor considered instructing his Command Prompt to ping USB owner's network, but his address was out of range.

Days later, Speaker informed him that her owner had replaced USB with a newer model just before she passed away. Evidently, USB's owner was already having a secret relationship. Processor electronically muttered the new name. He didn't want to overlook the accomplice of USB's owner, who had betrayed her. Processor will never forget the name "cloud storage".

Processor was aware that he was powerless to retaliate against USB's owner, but he would be damned if he didn't try. For attempting to replace USB at her owner's side with Cloud Storage, he was going to take action personally.

Hello, Ifenna here. I wanted to write something rather mundane. I sincerely hope you found reading it as entertaining as I did while writing it. I would appreciate any feedback on this article.

Alas, Laptop and this Lady must say goodbye. Until our next meeting!
